There have been letters in your correspondence columns on the subject of adults being short-changed when, as children, they were taught religion at their Catholic schools. I think I can cap the lot.

When I was recently in Victoria, the Catholic priest in a country town told me, with some pride, that religion in his church secondary school was taught by a woman of a Protestant persuasion. He did not say to which sect she belonged, nor whether she regularly attended chapel, if at all, but it seems to me that she could do little more than tell a few ecumenical Bible stories to the students in her charge.

One wonders for just what the Catholic parents are paying when they send their children to such a school.
