Reflection: Liturgy in the true spirit of Vatican II - Ralph McInerny

The article by Larry Carstens February AD2000) raised many good points on the connection between plentiful vocations and orthodox bishops, who ensure the Catholic faith is taught in its entirety in their seminaries.

I note that those dioceses in Australia where bishops appear to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to unapproved liturgies and dubious theologies, and where workshops are regularly held on priestless parishes, are the very ones experiencing a lack of vocations.

St Teresa of Avila, in her Way of Perfection, wrote that "if the bishop is holy the subjects will be so too. And as something very important always ask this of the Lord in your prayers."
