Reflection: Cardinal Nguyen van Thuan: witness to the priesthood and Eucharist - Fr Dennis Byrnes

On a recent Sunday, I was near Brisbane, and took advantage of attending the Latin Mass, celebrated at Saint Luke's Church Buranda. What a rejuvenating experience for all who filled the church to capacity.

The congregation was comprised of children, youth and seniors. The four immaculately uniformed altar servers were a credit to themselves and their tutor. The presiding priest was as usual, inspiring.

What I have never encountered, however, when in a position to attend this Mass, was the availability of copies of AD2000.

In a State where every maverick religious publication appears to be tolerated, but not AD2000, could this be a sign that we have at last come of age? We can but pray that some sanity has returned.
