Reflection: Private revelations: "Keep to what is countenanced by the Church" - Fr Peter Joseph

Curiously, in all the discussion about a projected "clean room" for drug addicts to be conducted under the care of the Sisters of Charity at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, no express reference has been made to Article 2291 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The article states: "The use of drugs inflicts very grave damage on human health and life. Their use, except on strictly therapeutic grounds, is a grave offence. Clandestine production of and trafficking in drugs are scandalous practices. They constitute direct co-operation in evil, since they encourage people to practices gravely contrary to the moral law."

Why, then, did the Archbishop of Sydney need to write to Cardinal Ratzinger in the Vatican in order to be set right in the matter?
