Role model?

Role model?

In the recent Davis Cup semi-final, where Australia played an exceedingly strong Swiss team, I watched with delight and admiration the success by Lleyton Hewitt against the Wimbledon champion Roger Federer.

The win was unexpected after Federer had easily raced to a two set lead and was playing superb tennis. However, Lleyton lifted his game remarkably to take the next three sets and give Australia a place in the Davis Cup final.

But my admiration for Hewitt soon came crashing down as he shouted several obscenities as an outlet for his emotions. In this respect he is in no way a good role model for our young up-and-coming players despite his prowess with the racket.

I hope that someone who has influence with Lleyton will advise him to clean up his act with regard to his lanquage on the tennis court and show to all Australians that we have a sportsman of whom we can be justly proud.
