Misguided compassion (letter)

Thank you for a great magazine, with its interesting articles and letters.

It was an enormous help to me, while walking with a beautiful son who died from HIV/AIDS in 1995, aged 29, defending his right to choose. It was a hard road for eight years, but our prayers were answered and he came back to his faith six months before he died.

Our vulnerable young people are at risk of being seduced when the media promotes the 'gay' lifestyle as just another way of expressing one's sexuality. And our governments do not help either - nor do we hear many sermons on the sinfulness of the lifestyle.

There is misguided compassion all around us. To truly love is to uphold God's truth and Church teachings, while loving the person.
