In reply to Geoff Storey's letter regarding Chavagnes International College in France, I am happy to tell readers that my two boys aged 15 and 14 are attending the college and that I can be contacted for further information at cotterillfamily @ dodo.com.au or (03) 6426 2305).
It is thanks to AD2000 that my boys are there. The original article describing the new college being set up in France caught my eye four years ago and now my boys have been blessed to have had almost two years at the college.
At the school they are studying their Catholic faith through RE, morning Mass (Novus Ordo in Latin), daily Rosary and superb spiritual direction under Fr Pilon (resident French- Canadian priest).
In addition they study Latin, French and Spanish, along with the other usual subjects of English, Maths and Sciences under totally committed Catholic educators.
The College has its own website: www.chavagnes.org and additional information is now on (Catholic Apologist) Raymond da Souza's web page: www.saintgabriel.com.au Raymond enrolled three of his boys at the school this year.
For Geoff and other readers, some other Catholic schools that I looked at are also available on the web. There is one in the West of Ireland, near Knock, called Saint Patrick's Academy (www.stpatricksacademy.ie) and also several in the USA. These schools are privately run, thoroughly orthodox and well worth researching.
The hardest part for any parent is sending their children off to such far away destinations, but with good research and plenty of contact with other parents of children at these schools, you will be reassured and gratified to know that such schools do exist.
Finally, I have fundraising CDs for sale from the Chavagnes College Choir. Some of the hymns featured include Gaudete (Trad), Ave Verum Corpus (Mozart) and Rejoice in the Lord Always (Purcell). $15 and free postage! Call me on (03) 6426-2305.
